HSI designs, builds, and tests task-specific prototypes for new specialty tools our customers require to complete the job safely, on-time, and within budget.

Specialty Tools for the Energy Sector

A customer came to us when their conventional method of removing a large plug was unsuccessful. HSI not only designed and fabricated a tool to handle the job, but the customer hired us to take care of the rest of the plugs on site using the new tool. The design allowed for the job to be completed in a fraction of the time as the old method with a 100% success rate.

The following are a few examples of the types of specialty tools HSI has produced for a wide range of clients:

Patented Nut Cutter

HSI designed a specialty tool used to remove corroded or inaccessible nuts that could not be removed with traditional tools.

Dual Hydraulic Drill Press

HSI designed a unique tool designed for boring holes in sections of pipe. The tool was needed as a safer alternative to hot work during well abandonment.

Fluid Recovery Tool

This innovative tool was designed and constructed by HSI for drilling into and draining a vessel without the need of a traditional hot-tap. The tool was able to work more efficiently at a lower pressure while being more cost effective.

Bull Plug Removal

This was designed as an alternative tool option to using a pipe-wrench. The resulting tool was more efficient when removing corroded and deteriorated bull plugs.
